National Sports Day Celebrated

National Sports Day was virtually observed on 29th August 2020 to commemorate the birthday of Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.

National Sports Day is also celebrated extensively at the national level. It is organized every year in the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the President of the country; it gives National Sports Awards to the respective winners who have enhanced the value of the tricolor flag all over the world.

Under the National Sports Award, players and former players are honored with many other awards like Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, and Dronacharya Award. Along with all these honors, “Dhyan Chand Award” is also given on this day.

Sports are considered very important for the physical and mental development of humans. Students presented their involvement through different game clips shared along with a speech on the importance of games in life. The Principal also highlighted the importance of games for a healthy mind. The program ended with a pledge to give due importance to games in the life of the young generation for a better future of the country.
